Weekend explorations: Lincoln Center on an overcast day

Henry Moore's "Reclining Figure" (1963-64), at the Eero Saarinen-designed Vivian Beaumont Theatre, Lincoln Center for Performing Arts, New York. A 2010 remodeling added a restaurant with a green lawn roof, right side of photo, for lounging. The remodeling changed the original layout of this quiet plaza, causing some uproar.

(The photo at left shows one reason we've been exploring our metropolitan area so much: the wonderful Lincoln Center Festival).

Love the lawned roof ... You are SO fortunate to have the renown Lincoln Centre within visiting distance.

One of the few places in NYC that I've never been to...

Guess what: it's Monday and the sun is shining this morning... :-)

We might not have the Lincoln Centre but we do have a Henry Moore and indeed a few yards away the Henry Moore Institute here in Leeds.
I like the Little pic, nicely done.

Wish I could have joined you- looks a great place- and it's interesting that a Henry Moore has travelled such a distance!

I agree with EG Lulu, the reflections in the top shot are excellent, it's a beautifully composed shot, nice work indeed. Do you think they succeeded in their plan to make it a 'hip' spot?

Hope you had a great time. Two interesting photographs with a nice link between the two. Lucky you for having New York, almost on your doorstep.

Dianne - that lawned roof is great, isn't it...yes, we feel very lucky! :)

cieldequimper - oh, it's a wonderful place to see performances and you'd probably enjoy it very much (Hooray for sun - I can't believe the summer you're having!)

Paul - thank you! I love that Henry Moore is right from the Leeds area. He seemed an amazing person, not just an amazing artist.

Chrissy Brand - it's a lovely place, and I remember learning about Henry Moore way off in faraway Hawaii during my childhood. He's very celebrated here! :)

EG CameraGirl - thanks so much! Alas, if only the sun had come out. :)

PerthDailyPhoto - oh thank you! I do wonder about that...it seems more bustling these days, with a nice mixed crowd of young & old, though there are still New Yorkers seething about the architectural changes! :)

LOLfromPasa - thanks so much! Yes, we feel very lucky - it's like the best of both worlds :)

Oh, how I wish I could use the terms "Lincoln Center" and "our area" in the same sentence! The remodeling looks interesting. Love the photo!
