Rambling (updated)

Along the canal towpath, in the northeast corner of Princeton near Kingston Village. The gristmill ahead was rebuilt several times over the past 300 years; the current building dates from 1888. Enjoy your weekend!

Tracing history: After the battle

"By this route Washington with his army retired to Morristown after his victory at Princeton January 1777." The route, Nassau Street, is still our main thoroughfare (2nd photo, street stretching into background) and follows an old Lenape Indian path.

Weekend explorations: Grand Central Terminal, New York

The grand concourse clock is a popular meeting and marriage proposal site; there's a secret staircase under the floor beneath. The once-sooty ceiling reveals the constellations (better view here).

After-work light

Nassau Street: No matter how long the day or rainy the week, a dose of after-work light makes up for it all! Enjoy your weekend.

Hong Kong-themed day

Mr. L was in Hong Kong briefly for work last week and sent these iPhone shots of Victoria Harbour. The giant rubber ducky ("Spreading Joy Around the World" by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman) heads to Pittsburgh next.

Rhododendrons and azaleas

They're past their peak, but better late (to post) than never! Apparently, rhododendrons have 10 or more stamens; azaleas have 5 or so. (Thanks for kind comments re: Mr. L's photo yesterday - hope it'll spur him to contribute more:)
