Tracing history: After the battle

"By this route Washington with his army retired to Morristown after his victory at Princeton January 1777." The route, Nassau Street, is still our main thoroughfare (2nd photo, street stretching into background) and follows an old Lenape Indian path.

Princeton has had an eventful history Lulu, and how wonderful for Washington to be remembered and honored in this way.

Lulu, you have a very rich history!!! I would love to live in the city like this. I would have many strolls along all historical places.

I like that you cover so many topics. I am learning and learning and happy about it:)))))

Fascinating! I'm drawn to the American Revolution. I'll have to re-read McCullough's 1776 sometime soon.

Thanks so much, everyone! Ancient pathways are the most intriguing. Hilda and Red Nomad - yes, I guess Princeton is old by American standards:) William - you'd find many Revolutionary sites dotting the landscape here.

I love to ramble in old graveyards. I wonder if anyone has ever written a history of North America via old tomb stones and gravemarkers?

Even the words ancient pathways are thrilling.

I got accepted into the DAR 2 years ago...so this is particularly neat to see. Nicely photographed, Lulu, this piece of American history.
