W for...

Waikiki! Wait, that's across the world...woops...

What about a Dutch Wilkum sign (at our cheesemongers, one owner is Dutch)...

Or watermelon wear? Farmers market. (Thanks to this gentleman for posing!)

Thanks to Denise, Roger and team at ABC Wednesday.

That's a marvellous collection of Ws! Love that smile!

Nice photos only the Dutch one is a bit strange. We say: "welkom" .May be it's a Dutch dialect or Friesian? Well I shall ask my Friesian friends how they spell "welcome".
Thanks for your taking part in ABC on Wednesday.
Have a great day!
Wil, ABCW Team.

That is a sweet sign, I absolutely love a cheese shop. Reader Wil's comment made me look the word up, apparently its a Pennsylvanian Dutch greeting. Isn't how language alters as it moves fascinating.

Thanks so much everyone! Reader Wil and Joy - thank you for the great question and answer! I was inspired to also look it up and it does indeed appear to be Pennsylvanian Dutch! We're not too far from Pennsylvania Dutch country - the owner (who is originally from the Netherlands) must have gone for something with a 'local' touch:)

Lulu, I love a Dutch Wilkum sign. It's so bright and was designed in a such beautiful way!!!

And the gentleman from Farmers market is so great. He has a wonderful smile! And so much personality.

Excellent, very excellent pictures!!!

My parents came from the Netherlands. When I try to read Dutch from a printed page, I end up making it sound German.

Waikiki would be lovely...

Thank you for looking up the origine of the word "wilkum" . It is interesting how a language can change.
