War relic {+Churchill randoms}
Did you know
Winston Churchill has a Princeton connection? Churchill's maternal grandpa, Leonard Jerome, attended Princeton University and led the 1838 effort to return this Revolutionary War cannon to Princeton. (The cannon was left in Princeton by Washington's army after a Revolutionary battle, but relocated to nearby New Brunswick during the War of 1812 to again ward off the British - more here).
The cannon now fronts a Princeton eating club (this one). Churchill was an iconic 'war relic' too - and the first honorary citizen of the U.S.!

I did not know that!
Lovely shots... particularly the second one.
Nope, I didn't. Interesting. Churchill a 'war relic'? Sheesh! :-)
A war relic and every bit as formidable as that old cannon! Nice work.
Very interesting... and very brave of you to look straight down the barrel of the cannon!
I like the first photo. Both you and the cannon are lined up for the perfect shot. :)
How interesting. I am glad the cannon is back at Princeton---I think.
Sometimes I feel like an old relic---yep!

Interesting!
Congratulations on the top composition. It's fantastic!
I did not know that. How interesting.
I love the way you shot this so we're looking into the barrel of the cannon. (Is it called a barrel when it's on a cannon?)
I like when you give us a little bit of history, Lulu. I didn't know that Winston Churchill had Princeton connection. This world is really small.
I love these picture very much. The composition is just so excellent!!!!
Beautiful top shot Lulu and really interesting link to the 'Cannon'.. would love to know what some of the Jane Fonda stories are :) might have to do a bit of googling!
Hups .. what a nice first image !

It looks very impressive!
An interesting connection - he's my hero.
Buena foto, y muy curiosa la historia del cañón.
Un saludo, Ángel
Kinda scary looking into the cannon! ;)
I'm beginning to wonder which prominent person didn't, in fact, have a connection to Princeton ;) Lovely brick facade of the eating club… perhaps you'll share photos of the inside + menu one day?
