For record lovers

Where have all the record stores gone? Princeton Record Exchange (here, a rainy night refuge) boasts 160,000 titles and customers from Scotland and Japan, but seems a dying breed.

(Still figuring out how to take fluorescent light shots with a point and shoot, sigh).

Which reminds me that I still have a few, somewhere...

I think I have one left and no means to play it. My first love worked in a record store and I chatted to her when the boys I was on patrol with were interested in the football on the TVs in the next shop. We spent hours listening to the Carpenters in the sitting room of her parents house.

cieldequimper - I do too, though nothing to play it on anymore, sadly!

Paul - that is a lovely memory, there's something romantic about records, now lost in the digital age. (Feels the same re: film vs. digital photos).

We still do have one or two places in Perth that you can buy records but it really is a becoming an enthusiasts pass time now! I still have all my old vinyls from waaaaaay back, I'm not sure why but I don't seem to be able to part with them haha!

PerthDailyPhoto -- that's great you still have places in Perth! I can't part with my old vinyls either, even though I can't even play them anymore! Ah, how times change... :)

That's a wonderful collection there! I bet it's fun to look through.

Ah! This brings back memories .... I still have a few vinyls of Elvis Presley and Kenny Rodgers but unfortunately nothing to play them on.

EG CameraGirl - yes, even though I have no turntable, I still love browsing vinyls!

Rath Savinders - too true, too true, alas!

Dianne - we also have Elvis Presley vinyls somewhere! But likewise no way to play them (sad!)

We have lots of second hand record stores in Manchester- they are quite en vogie again. I am cataloguing our vinyl collection to sell off!

A great question about lighting and how to shoot in it with a point and shoot. I ask the same question, in vain. Do let me know if there is an answer ;-)
