Mingling past and present

Springdale golf course is popular with golfers and sunbathers. But in 1777, British troops fleeing George Washington's men at Princeton Battlefield passed through here, where there was another skirmish. Can you imagine British and American troops clashing here?

Actually, yes I can. I wonder if the lie of the land has changed at all.

A beautiful spot. I am not a golfer but some golf courses a good places for a stroll. I find it incredible that we once fought at all. Compared to the French we have so much in common. Do not get me wrong I love France and everything Gallic.

Maybe if you shut your eyes and concentrate really hard you might be able to hear the clash of swords, did they have pistols in 1777, probably. It just looks so serene and green now Lulu, a much better scenario oui!

I think I can imagine it! It's a bit of a stretch, due to the peacefulness of your nice photo.

It looks so peaceful and quiet now. Hard to believe that this place has such a violent history.

Thank you for all your sweet comments! Strange that a peaceful place can come from some old war site, but lovely to know it can!

I read that it was pretty similar to 200+ years ago, except there were almost no trees then! So glad for the trees now :)

It looks so peaceful. In this case the past has been improved upon. :)
