Thank goodness for people like Thomas Coram hey Lulu, even way back then there were heroes. What a wonderful staircase in the museum, trying to imagine how it would be with children running up and down.

Do you know I have never been there, although I know Corams Fields very well. I think when I used to take my kids to Corams Fields the museum can't have been open. I remember it as offices. Thanks for the heads up, though - I will investigate.

It makes me feel so sad that any mother would have to leave her child on a street. Thomas Coram was a wonderful person!

'Foundling' is such an evocative word - probably used more in melodrama these days so the real meaning and reality for so many is lost. I wonder what drives a mother about to give up her baby to poetry? An intriguing thought!!
