{Princeton Battlefield}

 "It may be doubted whether so small a number of men ever employed so short a space of time with greater and more lasting effects upon the history of the world."
-British politician Sir George Trevelyan on the Battle of Princeton

The Battle of Princeton unfolded here on January 3, 1777, and was a turning point in the Revolutionary War.

Isn't it amazing how peaceful it looks now? That's what I always think when I drive through the region around Verdun...

Un paisaje de gran belleza y serenidad, con un precioso cielo, una luz suave, agradable, hacen que la foto sea muy buena.
Tus textos históricos son siempre aclaratorios y enriquecedores.
Un saludo, Ángel

It's hard to believe a battle took place here.

What a very sobering image. It all looks so innocent and peaceful now.

Thank you for your comments - it's amazing to me too, the serenity today versus past history.
@cieldequimper - so much happened at Verdun, how sobering it must be to drive though...
@asm - thank you and hope the history lessons aren't too mundane!
@PerthDailyPhoto - I imagine those battle cries here too, long ago but somehow still near.

A tranquil field steeped in history, I am a sucker for battlefields and military cemeteries, if it had gone the other way there Australian may have been French not British.

I am ready for a shot like this. I think I am just about all snowed out. Wonderful colors in this historic spot. Nicely done, Lulu.

And now it looks so peaceful.

It's an area of history that's always held my interest.

I'm glad to see the field left as it is, with no buildings on it. Much better for contemplation of history.
