On a winter's day last week: One of many gates leading into
Harvard Yard (where a few years back, one professor
exercised his 200-year-old right to graze cows). The arched walkway runs under a freshman dormitory,
Wigglesworth, once home to
Leonard Bernstein and other famed
former students.

Arches like this are a personal favourite architectural feature. They always seem to beckon
So that's where you were keeping yourself last week. Hallowed halls indeed.
From Princeton to Harvard, nice! :-)
Fresh milk was a good idea! :-)
Bernstein, another genius.
I could walk through there a hundred times without getting any wiser!
You won me with the arch Lulu but I have to say I enjoyed every single link you gave us. So interesting to see the halls of residence.. Love the name Wigglesworth but think I might have preferred Hurlbut, the amenities sound better :)
In this photo perspective is everything.
I imagine many an illustrious foot has made its way through this very grand looking archway!
A fantastic shot with this entrance and the quote. Gorgeous !
Best regards, Synnöve
Better than "Abandon hope all ye who enter here." ;-)
Excellent! Oh that is funny about the professor and the cows.
I can imagine you also found many more interesting and visually appealing shots on your NJ break.
beautiful archway!
AA pleasant walkway but I cannot imagine cows at the end of it.
Good to see you back, Lulu!
I guess it's because I'm from St. Louis...I have a thing for Arches.
Oh, I love this so beautifully and masterfully framed photo! I love especially that I can see a person at the end of this gate.
Wonderful and very creative, Lulu!
Great archway! And hopeful quote for incoming freshman :) Welcome back Lulu...
Great shot! These arches are always a welcoming thing to me - I must see the other side.
The contrast in brickwork is interesting. It works well. Interesting background information. At first glance I thought you were going to say you were at our Cambridge :).
I love this arch, and you have photographed it beautifully, Jude.
Great perspective.
I hope you have a wonderful week!
What a perspective, I like a lot.
Hugs
Hope you are having fun on your away time
