Beat the heat

Oppressive storm clouds and heat, Delaware River. People and pups dip their toes in this favorite local spot, just a 20-30 minute drive away. A heatwave broke records over the weekend.

(Not far from here, George Washington famously crossed the Delaware River on Christmas 1776 to defeat Hessian troops during the Revolution).

Nice to wade in thinking about history!

Looks like a great place to cool off, bet the dog is loving it! I wonder how many of the people here enjoying the watery coolness are aware of the historical importance of this spot!

cieldequimper - thanks! It's fun to think of all the drama that happened around here, nothing like today!

PerthDailyPhoto - I think the dog was the least bothered by the heat! Everyone else was wilting :) I wonder whether people are aware too...

Just like cieldequimper points out, it is interesting to visit places and think about their history, I will often do that and try to tell anyone who wants to listen the story.

Stefan - it is a lovely idea to relate places to history, every place has a story to tell!

I have a friend in St Paul, MN and she was telling me about the heat. Yes just about every place does have its own story.

That's an amazing story to be a part of, while wading!
