Happy Valentine's at the cheesemongers! Legend has it that French milkmaids during the Hundred Years War made heart-shaped Coeur de Bray ("farmstead cheese with a bloomy rind and mushroom aroma") to express their love to English soldiers stationed in Normandy. Apologies for the dark indoor photo!

Oh looool, I've got a Neufchâtel in the fridge!!!! Not the best cheese but not to be resisted on 14 Feb.! Happy Valentine's day!
Those French milkmaids were lovers at heat.
Yum
Mmmmmm, I can almost smell them all from here!
These will get me any time! My husband says I'd eat anything with cheese. Which is mostly true.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Brilliant Lulu, very different from chocs an flowers...also many people would say the whole idea of Valentine day is a wee bit cheesy haha!
Ohh my husband would have a lot to say about those French milkmaids!! :) The packaging is sure cute though... Joyeuse Saint-Valentin!
Big fan of cheese and these look yummy. Thanks for the historical info. Have a happy heart day.
Simpática foto, que pases un buen día de San Valentín
Un saludo, Ángel

A classic, Lulu! You are so imaginative. Great post and Happy Valentine's Day to YOU!
happy valentine's day and you just reminded me that ash wanted me to get her those little baby belle cheeses for her lunches lol
What a great post- though it's been a cheese-free and Valentines for me- but I did get chocolate ;-)
Nothing says love like a block 'o cheese! Who could resist heart shaped cheese on Valentine's Day? Fun take on the day, LuLu.
Good looking cheeses here. I can be satisfied with just Cheddar.
I've never met a cheese I didn't like!
You're such a tease!! Just WHAT does it need to be served with to make it even more superb??!!
My favourite displays at supermarkets are... cheese! :-)
Oh yummy!
