Very cool photos. City life is so different from rural life.

Why not? I think I've forgotten how to play though!

V for Vendetta masks a nice touch, a nice public game, more cerebral than arm wrestling.

FAAAAAABULOUS Faces! Pity the actual game is a complete mystery to me, although I've used the 'pawns on a chessboard' analogy often enough!! Have a great week!

Don't know if I could play chess in public. I like my defeats to remain private.

Nice candid shot of die hard chess players.

Super shots Lulu, it's fun to watch the games they play in the park.. I used to really enjoy playing...it's all a question of time these days..or should I say lack of it :)

Great shots! (although the masks on the latge set freak me out a little)

Love the giant chess pieces! Do folks play with those?... I'm sure you've seen the chess players in Dupont Circle in DC,... I always loved watching people stroll up, take a seat and just start playing to crowds! So brave. Nice document of daily city life Lulu :)

I can almost hear the cogs whirring around, figuring out their next moves!

Oh how fun, Lulu! Interesting reading the comments above. Love the duct tape on the chest board and that Con Edison drain cover is quite artistic. Great shots for the world to see!

My dad loved chess and would have gone nut-so for that first chess set.
