Alexander Calder works are on loan to Princeton University through June, "The Kite that Never Flew" (left) and "Man." Both were installed on a rare snow-free day in January, below. (Doesn't the wrapped-up "Man" look Trojan horse-y? Open at your own risk, Princeton.)

The contrast of these super sculptures against the snow looks thought provoking. I am seeing an invasion of sorts... :). Love seeing the area snow-free too.
They look so beautiful (or ominous...) in high contrast against the white white snow. The Kite reminds me of a dark knight about to take flight... love them both!
'The Kite That Never Flew' is a fantastic title, almost quite sad!

It did look a bit like a Trojan horse when it was wrapped up. Both sculptures are stunning against the white snow in your top shot.

I thought I remembered the name Lulu.. Alexander Calder had a piece called Spider

in a collection that came to our Art Gallery here in Perth on loan from MoMA. It was a brilliant exhibition. His work looks fabulous emerging from the snow also, tres dramatic!

Wow. Princeton sure is fortunate. Those pieces of art are amazing. I am sure they are wonderful to see in person.
I can't say why I like Calder's works so much. I just do. These look particularly fine in the snow.

I have never seen Alexander Calder's black works. I actually prefer these to the red ones.
