Ai Weiwei's Zodiac Heads

Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei's "Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads," Scudder Plaza. A reinterpretation of bronze Chinese zodiac animals from Beijing's Old Summer Palace, looted during the Second Opium War, the exhibit explores the meaning of art relics (more here). Sorry about the overcast light, it's been stormy!

These are so interesting! I just looked at the schedule and realized I missed them, at the museum where I have a membership! I like the light in your photo - makes them seem more ancient.

The man himself... The row is incredible, they all look rather friendly, even the dragon!

Adele - thank you! Oh no, I did see that they were in LA earlier. His website gives great detail and the exhibit is even more interesting knowing the backstory! :)

cieldequimper - I noticed that too, they all seem rather friendly. I guess the originals had that look too :)

LOLfromPasa - thank you! Which reminds me, I had to interview someone from Pasadena not long before I took these photos. Small world :)

PerthDailyPhoto - thank you, but oh, I really should've included a tiger closeup because it's Princeton's mascot! Duh! I ought to swing by there again :)

Valladolid Daily Photo - thank you so much!

EG CameraGirl - I did love the dragon, even though it's the most ferocious. :)

Mo - thank you & that is so cool that you'd seen them in London! I saw they were at the Somerset House :)
