Weekend explorations: Grand Central Terminal, New York
The grand concourse clock is a popular meeting and marriage proposal site; there's a secret staircase under the floor beneath. The once-sooty ceiling reveals the constellations (better view here).
Wonderful clear shot of that iconic clock. I never noticed the ceiling. Tooooo busy exchanging kisses with Mr LOL under that clock :). Have a good week!
RE: your comment on the monorail. It is a very controversial piece of infrastructure. Lots of opposition, it never went far enough for it to be popular, it is only really used by tourists. I will be sad when it goes.
Buenas las dos fotos, sobre un edificio que es una obra de arte de la arquitectura. Y que me dices la de veces que ha servido de escenario para tantas películas? Un saludo, Ángel
Fab pictures of this iconic station Lulu, I really enjoyed all of the comments too :) On of my most used expressions when I've had heaps of visitors is 'its been busier than Grand Central Station :)
Thanks so much (to paraphrase PerthDailyPhoto, your comments gave me a nice laugh today, haha!:)))) Peter - thanks for clarifying re: the monorail! a.s.m. - yes, it's the setting for many movie scenes indeed!
The beautiful windows, that splendid clock ... I've seen this glorious, and iconic, station in movies, and I have always wanted to see it in the flesh ... hopefully one day.!

If you ever get the chance to show us that secret staircase, please do!
Lol, I waited for someone there once but no marriage proposal! I agree with Petrea!
This is a spectacular place, full of nostalgia. Your photo of the clock sums it up perfectly.
It is a beautiful station entrance. Hope you dropped in to the Magnolia bakery.

I haven't been in Grand Central in years--but it looks better in your photos than I remember it!

No matter how many times I am inside of Grand Central Station, I am always completely awestruck. Such a beautiful place.
A beautiful clock and perfectly photographed.
It looks very old fashioned!
